Dust off the baking pans!

Many families are pulling out their favorite fall recipes and taking pantry inventories of their baking supplies.  The traditional recipes of pumpkin or apple pie ranks high on many lists as both are in season in most mid-west areas.  Here's a recipe you might want to add to your recipe collection

Baby Shower

Skye and Jon will become parents for the first time next month and they are busily preparing for the arrival of their son.  Nearly 100 family and friends attended their baby shower held at Finley's in Downers Grove and lots of care and preparation went into it to make sure it was a day to remember.  We were there to create an event scrapbook for the soon-to-be parents and filled it with lots of group photos and special poses with their immediate family.

All baby showers are special, but this one had some additional significance to Skye's family... this is her parents' first grandchild and it's the first boy to be born in the family in nearly two decades!!  Definitely cause for celebration!

Murder Mystery Birthday Party

Collage - murder mystery.jpgRachel celebrated her birthday on 10-10-10 and wanted to do something special to bring family and friends together in celebration.  What she planned was a fabulous murder mystery birthday party!

The setting:  High tea on the Titanic.  A murder has been committed and there are 8 suspects who are asked to give an account of their whereabouts during the time of the murder.  Every person in the room becomes part of the action by trying to guess who committed the crime.  Was it the Captain of the ship?  Mrs. Irene Harris?  Mr. Bruce Ismay?

We created a vintage scrapbook that reflected the times of the story with a velvet covered scrapbook, vintage papers, lace and various note cards.  We even created a picture gallery to display the suspects pictures.  The cover had a picture-box window which we filled with a vintage collage.

We won't tell you who actually did it, but what we WILL tell you is that it was a fabulous afternoon!

Cody's Farm - Autumn Drive

DSC04527.JPG

If you haven't been to a pumpkin patch to pick out your own pumpkin, or run through a corn maze, Cody's Farm is the place to go.  They participated in Marengo's annual Autumn Drive on Oct. 15-17 and was one of 9 locations to visit within the area.  Families visiting Cody's for a day of pumpkin picking, hay rides, corn mazes, petting zoo and more.  Vendor tables were set up in 2 of the barns displaying various home made goods such as soaps, furniture, baby items candles and more.

Scrapping on the Spot was a vendor there this year and we met so many wonderful people! We had several things available for purchase such as pre-made scrapbook pages, card making kits, explosion picture boxes and explosion picture books — many with Halloween and autumn themes.

What's This?

We've often been asked this question when someone sees one of our hand-crafted explosion books.

These nifty little books displays your photos based on a theme and are crafted using colors and paper designs that relate to the occasion.  Some people have even called them brag books or picture books.  Simply gather up a few of your favorite photos, think of some little sayings or titles and start filling up the middle panels on both sides of the book with memories!

Here is a before and after visual of how they work -- our example uses a Halloween spider book.
